Graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Inc external link., 12 South Summit Ave., Suite 100, Gaithersburg, MD 20877-4150, telephone (301)990-7979; Fax (301) 869-8492.  Successful completion of this examination qualifies the graduate as an occupational therapist, registered (OTR). Most states require licensure to practice, which is based on the results of the NBCOT certification exam.

Graduates of the Occupational Therapy Department have demonstrated very good outcomes on the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy certification examination (NBCOT). Average test scores on the certification exam have consistently been above the national average.
