Physical Therapy

Early Admission

If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact the SHP Office of Student Affairs for advisement.

Please review essential functions for physical therapy practice required by MU PT.

Early Admission grants students the opportunity to apply to the DPT program during their junior year and enter the DPT program after completing 90 credit hours of college-level coursework.

Students who seek to gain early admission to the DPT program must complete a minimum of three years (six fall/spring semesters or 12 quarters) of residential coursework on a college campus prior to starting the DPT program.

To be eligible to apply for early admission, students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and be on track to earn a total of 90 credit hours by the end of their junior year. The 90 hours must contain 2 writing intensive (WI) courses, satisfy the MU general education requirements, and include the DPT core required courses. At time of application, students may be enrolled in no more than 2 DPT core required courses.

If you are eligible to apply for early admission, please complete the Physical Therapy Department Application. The departmental application deadline is January 24th.

Non-University of Missouri-Columbia students will not be required to apply for general admission to the University of Missouri-Columbia until they have received notification of their acceptance (or non-acceptance) to the Physical Therapy Program.

Applicants who wish to be eligible for financial aid must, however, apply to the University of Missouri Admissions Office by March 1.

For transfer students, the transfer scholarship priority deadline is February 1.
