Career Services

The SHP Career Services office exists to match health related employers with students and graduates from our school. Each year, we host health sciences and professional career fairs to help facilitate relationships that lead to employment. We also help students with resumes, interview skills, personal statements, and other career-related resources. We encourage students to begin meeting with Career Services as early as possible in their student careers – even as freshmen – to get the best possible start in the work world.

SHP Career, Graduate and Professional Fairs will be back in October 2013! Check back for details as they become available or sign up to receive updates via email!

Meet our Peer Career Advisors

Molly Porter

Hi, my name is Molly Porter. I grew up in Montgomery City, Missouri, a small town east of Columbia. I am currently applying to Mizzou’s occupational therapy program. My interest in occupational therapy developed several years ago and I look forward to working with adults or the aging population. My role as a Peer Career Specialist in the School of Health Professions involves working with students to prepare them for a career following graduation. I have received training on resume and cover letter writing and the variety of healthcare career tracks. This role involves assisting students in building a solid professional foundation before going into the workforce. I enjoy meeting with students to help with resume or cover letters and discussing possible future career plans.

I am the president of the Student Occupational Therapy Association, where we interact with younger students through OT related fundraisers, social events, and service opportunities. I spent the summer sharing campus involvement opportunities with incoming students and I love interacting with new people who are eager to learn about the School of Health Professions and the OT program. As a Peer Career Specialist, I really enjoy meeting with other students and talking about their future career paths and ways that we can enhance their resumes.
