Occupational therapists work with the whole person, assisting people with physical disabilities, developmental issues and problems related to aging, social or psychosocial difficulties. Their goal is to enable patients to increase their functional abilities while restoring, maintaining or preventing further deterioration due to chronic or progressive conditions. Occupational therapy helps patients adapt to limitations or redesign their lives to be more meaningful and productive.
Employers include schools, rehabilitation hospitals, mental health centers, nursing homes, community practices and home health agencies.
This is a combined bachelor's and master's program with two years of prerequisites and three years of professional program studies.
