Scholarship opportunities for incoming freshmen
The priority application deadline for SHP scholarships is Dec. 1 for freshmen and Feb. 1 for transfer and returning students. The following scholarships are available for the 2010-2011 academic year. Students should also check the MU Student Financial Aid web site for information about university scholarships: http://sfa.missouri.edu.
SHarP Scholars Award
- Award amount: $500, freshman year
- Application deadline: July 1 (summer after senior year in high school) – Dec. 1 of freshman year at MU (not guaranteed after July 1)
Students who apply and are accepted as SHarP Scholars by July 1 (summer prior to freshman year at MU) are automatically awarded a $500 scholarship. Availability of the scholarship after July 1 will vary year to year.
Diversity Scholarships
- Award amount: $500, freshman year
- Application deadline: Dec. 1
Diversity scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen who come from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. The diversity award is students who are interested in pursuing a degree program in the School of Health Professions (not for pre-med, pre-dental or pre-nursing students).
To be eligible, students must submit an MU financial aid application and scholarship application for the School of Health Professions.
Freshman Talent Scholarship
- Award amount: $1750 per year (fall and spring)
- Application deadline: Dec. 1
Selection criteria:
- Be a first-year college freshman
- Ranked in the top 25% in senior high school class
- Submit a completed scholarship application with essay; AND
- Enroll in the School of Health Professions for both the fall and winter semesters of the freshman year
- Must maintain a 2.5 GPA each semester during the scholarship period
