Summary


Diabetes is a complex disease, whose successful management requires a comprehensive approach. To acquire the necessary self-management skills, a person with diabetes requires a team comprised of a knowledgeable physician, professional diabetes educators, and a caring support system.

Alvin Floyd was successful in mastering the skills and making the lifestyle changes necessary to achieve optimum control of his disease. He was able to learn and practice self-management over a period of 9 months. This should be the foundation for a living a healthy life with diabetes.
